Health at work is not just about people being physically well. As a school, we know that physical, social and psychological wellbeing are closely interlinked and if our staff team is physically and emotionally healthy, they are more likely to contribute fully at work and in the wider community of the school.
The pastoral care for our pupils is outstanding and well supported within the curriculum. This education should, in our view, be extended to the staff as we seek to prepare them, too, for anything and everything – professionally and personally.
An annual staff wellbeing survey is completed anonymously and the results of the survey are shared with all staff. Anonymity is maintained, but we feel that staff should be consulted on the findings and given the chance to suggest improvements to the school culture and environment.
As a team, we aim to appreciate that a good work-life balance is integral to general health and wellbeing, and to increasing their work satisfaction and motivation.
During the year, the staff will arrange various social events, team quizzes or sporting activities. They are likely to be more committed, more flexible and more responsive to the school and more importantly our student’s needs.
